Child Therapy
For young children, I utilize play therapy to address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties, and coping with family conflict or bullying. Unlike adults, young children (approx age 3-11) lack the cognitive and verbal capacity to fully verbally communicate their internal experiences. Instead, children enact their experiences through their behavior and through the themes in their play. Thus, play therapy is the most effective way to understand a child’s inner world and then aid in the process of expressing, processing, and more deeply exploring their emotions at their developmental stage. As a play therapist, I create a warm and supportive environment that promotes creativity, growth, and healing. My therapy room is equipped with toys, games, and art supplies to foster this growth. I also incorporate behavioral techniques such as CBT and PMT (Parent Management Training) to help children and parents develop skills to manage big feelings. Typically, play therapy is accompanied by parent feedback sessions as needed.
