Therapy for Teens and Young Adults
Adolescence is the most critical period for the development of self-esteem, identity, and agency. It is a time of tremendous change, insecurity and experimentation. As a therapist, I work with young people as they embark on a transition out of childhood and into a world of more complex relationships, emotional and physical change, higher expectations and identity exploration. I employ a casual and empathetic approach to create a safe space for teens to explore their experiences. As I tailor my treatments, I consider developmental and environmental factors, and I integrate psychodynamic and behavioral techniques to meet the needs of each young person and their families. I have extensive experience treating teens and young adults struggling with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, family and peer conflict, trauma, academic challenges, behavioral difficulties and LGBTQIA+ related stress or challenges. Parent feedback sessions and family sessions are incorporated as needed and if necessary, with the adolescent’s awareness and involvement.
